In order to have beautiful facial skin, you need to have a plan, a routine that you follow every single day. Having beautiful facial skin means routine facial skin care. Just doing a day here and there when you have time is simply not enough. A simple facial skin care routine could embrace: cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing
Cleansing: the first action in a facial skin care routine is cleansing your skin of all the everyday grime that gets on you during the day. It also removes excess oil from your body and chemical pollutants from the surroundings. A water-based cleanser is the best.
Put a little cleansing milk, lotion or cream onto a soft tissue or swab of cotton wool and massage it into small areas of your face at a time. Try to use upward strokes to stimulate facial muscles. Cleanse your face and neck at least twice a day. You can also cleanse without running the rest of your routine.
Toning: the next stage in your facial skin care routine is toning. However, toning does not have to be carried out every day, but it does get rid of the final vestiges of dirt and oil from your skin. Instead of adding toning to your routine, you could tone your skin when you think that it needs it.
For instance, every couple of days or when you have been shopping and have been exposed to a lot of car exhaust. You can make your own toner very simply by infusing herbs in boiling water. Look on the Internet, but rosemary is good.
Exfoliation: exfoliation is not necessary every day, in fact more than three or four times a week can even be harmful. Exfoliation removes dead, dry skin cells which would otherwise just soak up and waste the other ointments you put on your skin. There is no way you can revive them or perk them up – they are dead.
However, these dead skin cells can block your pores, which can result in oil blockages, which can lead to spots, pimples or even acne. Scrubbing too hard or and too often is also harmful though.
Moisturizing: this is the most important. It is by far the most significant facet of facial skin care, because moisturizers prevent your skin from drying out and dry skin can lead to problems all of its own. Put the moisturizer on a pad as before and use the same light, upward strokes to rub on the moisturizer. It works best on warm, damp skin, like when you have just come out of the bath.
Besides this evening or morning facial skin care routine, there are other things that you should do on a routine basis. For instance, never put a new product straight onto your face, try it on the back of your neck or earlobes first to test for an allergic reaction.
Never rub hard. Rub on sunblock when you go away from the house on any occasion (sometimes it is built into other products). Make sure that you know your skin type accurately, If you are not sure it is worth a journey to a skin counselor or you could be using the wrong products.
